Okay. I'm cheating. This cute lion isn't in Baltimore. He's in Virginia at Montpelier. That's where James Madison used to live, when he was not signing constitutions or presidenting. I just had to throw this pix in here, this lil lion-kitty is just too cute to ignore.
A sleeping beauty, just like Moumoune. Thanks for visiting my blog and - a question. Stuttfotur - sorry for not writing it as it should be written - is it (first guess) icelandic? (Second guess) Old scandinavian? Or something else? And what does it mean except being the name of a book character?
fenix - I'm so glad you like it too, thanks for stopping by!
hpy - A nice translation of Stuttfótur would be "Shorty" since it literally means short foot. (Befits the dog in the story, a German Sausage Dog!) And.. your first guess is right! (yay you!) In the original version btw, Stuttfótur was known as "Ovnrøret" i.e. the stovepipe. (I dunno what he'd be called in Old Norse though..)
I'm an expat, and I have lived in Baltimore for 10 years. I'm hoping to introduce the city to others (and myself!) through this blog. I take my pictures with a Casio Exilim.
The drawing is by Johan Vestly and is of Stuttfótur - a character from my favorite book series when I was a kid.
