Nope, a mailbox! Many of my visitors from overseas think our mailboxes look exactly like trash cans, and have even thought this IS a trash can! What do you think?

from a distance and with no other clues it certainly looks more like a litter bin than a post box, but with the labels it is obvious once up close.
I agree, in particular German trash cans look pretty much like our mailboxes - hence the confusion.
